Where to get the best wine in Liverpool

Where can you get a genuinely good glass of wine in Liverpool? It’s a question I’ve asked myself more times than I can count. The city has plenty going for it in food and drink, but a proper wine bar scene has always felt a little thin. Sure, you can grab a glass in most bars – but a dedicated wine bar? That’s been rare.

As a Scouser and a WSET Level 2-certified wine nerd, I’ve noticed the gap for years. Thankfully, in the last couple of years, a handful of spots have emerged that treat wine as the star of the show rather than an afterthought. These are the bars that care about quality, heritage, and the stories behind each bottle. Whether you’re popping in for a simple, effortless glass of wine or wanting to dive into conversations about grape varieties and winemakers with like-minded wine lovers, Liverpool now has a few great spots to do just that – and that’s exactly what it’s been missing.

Bunch Wine Bar

50 Berry St, Liverpool L1 4JQ

Two words: start here.

For me, this is as close to a day-one Liverpool wine bar as you’re going to get. Opened in 2017, just around the corner from the Bombed Out Church on Berry Street, Bunch has become a cornerstone of the city’s wine scene. Natural wine is the focus- think bottles made with minimal chemical intervention and maximum personality. The team take real pride in the producers they work with, championing thoughtful winemaking and small-scale wineries. Lovely space, lovely people – and, crucially, very lovely wine.

Corked

Unit 1, Oriel Close, Oriel Chambers, Water Street, Liverpool L2 8TD

One of the newest additions to Liverpool’s growing wine scene, Corked opened at the end of 2025 and has already carved out its place. Tucked just off Water Street (blink and you’ll miss it), it’s a super intimate spot that already feels confident in itself. Yes, the wine list is strong, as it should be, but what really sets Corked apart is its thoughtful selection of sherry and vermouth. It’s that extra layer of consideration that makes it more than just another wine bar. It’s exactly the kind of detail that signals it’s a place run by people who know their stuff and care about what’s in your glass.

BoBo

46 Castle St, Liverpool L2 7LA

BoBo celebrates the best of Portuguese & Spanish wine culture with its fantastic list of wines local to the two countries. It’s the only spot in Liverpool where you can get a great glass of Vinho Verde and pair it with a Pastel de Nata…and if that hasn’t sold you on BoBo then I don’t know what will. Fancy a visit? Vamos!

MITO bar

8 Castle St, Liverpool L2 0NE

Whilst it’s technically a cocktail bar, MITO is one of my favourite spots in Liverpool for a glass of wine. The bar calls itself the place to go for ‘Modern Italian Drinking’ and it delivers on that. It’s a small but sleek space with modern decor, impeccable service and a great selection of quality Italian wines. What more could you want? Get yourself there for Aperitivo Hour.

Petit Café Du Coin

60 Berry St, Liverpool L1 4JQ

The perfect place for Parisian elegance in the heart of Liverpool, Petit Café offers an extensive selection of wines in a cosy city-centre location. The wine list is enough to get you in there but it’s the late-night jazz that’ll keep you there until closing. With three venues across Liverpool, there’s plenty of Paris to explore. Check them out.

Queens Wine Bar & Bistro

8 Queen Ave, Liverpool L2

Set on Liverpool’s ‘Harry Potter street’ (Queens Avenue) Queens Wine Bar & Bistro is a cool and classy bistro with a great wine list. Whilst Queen’s is known for its seasonal classic dishes, it’s a great spot for a simple glass of wine in a beautiful setting. See their menu.

Ropes & Twines

70 Bold St, Liverpool L1 4HR

Perfecting the balance of coffee shop by day and wine bar by night is Ropes & Twines, a modern space with a really unique wine list. Their ethos is that they pride themselves on ‘excellent wine, speciality coffee and conversation’ – I can’t speak for the coffee (as I’ve yet to try it) but I can confirm that they’ve nailed the wine. Pop in for a glass.

  1. A fantastic roundup of Liverpool’s wine bar scene. I love how each spot has its own unique vibe. Like you I’m sold on BoBo. Yes the Pastel de nata did that. Bookmarking this for when I visit the city!

    1. Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Haha, happy to hear you’re sold on BoBo – it’s a great spot and they do a really nice bottomless brunch (it ends with a Pastel de Nata!).
