15 Affordable Supermarket Wines Under £15

Great supermarket wines that you’ll actually enjoy

Now, I don’t know about you, but I mentally set myself a top spend budget of £15 when it comes to buying wine at my local supermarket. I’ll happily spend £25 at a wine shop without a second thought, but in a supermarket, it’s rare you’ll find me going over £15. Is it flawed logic? Maybe. But it makes perfect sense to me. Spending £10–£15 on wine can feel a bit risky if you’re not sure what you’re buying, which is why I’ve put together this list of the best supermarket wines under £15. From crisp white wine to bold and juicy reds, these affordable wines under £15 are easy to grab in-store or online at your local supermarket. Consider this your guide to the very best supermarket wines under £15, where no liquid or money will go down the drain.

Delicious affordable white wines under £15

Whether you’re a fan of sharp, zesty styles or prefer something a little rounder and more indulgent, there’s something for every white wine drinker below. I’ve picked out four bottles that showcase just how vast the range of supermarket white wines you can get for under £15 is – from a surprising New Zealand Albariño to a classic White Rioja.

Paul Mas Reserve Viognier

If you caught my 10 wines under £10 feature, you’ll know I shared my best-kept budget Viognier secret (and if you didn’t, it’s worth a read after this). But, when it comes to my most repurchased supermarket Viognier, it has to be Paul Mas Reserve Viognier. It’s rich yet fresh with lovely floral and peach flavours, and at £10 a bottle, I think it’s a fantastic price too. RRP £10.00 TESCO

Robert Oatley Semaphore Chardonnay

Ripe fruits, zesty lemon with a beautiful buttery finish. This Australian Chardonnay is a balanced and rounded white wine that benefits from its French oak influence. If you prefer a Chardonnay that’s a little bit heavier on the palate, this is a brilliant pick. RRP £10.50 CO-OP or £14.99 Majestic Wines

Leftfield Albariño

Albariño is having a real moment recently (as it should!). And as a long-time lover of this typically Spanish wine and grape variety, I’m thrilled to see it getting its roses. Whilst Spanish Albariño is my go-to, I’ve gone with something unexpected with this pick, in the form of a New Zealand Albariño (yep, you heard that right). Crisp, zesty and refreshing, it’s everything you love about an Albariño but with a new-world twist. RRP £13.50 TESCO

Cune White Rioja

This one’s for the crisp-and-sharp white wine lovers. If you haven’t explored the world of white Rioja and you sit in team “dry, acidic and refreshing” when it comes to white wine, then get to know this style. For me, it’s a perfect example of what a White Rioja is – refreshing white peach and tart lemon. Delightful. RRP £11.50 Sainsburys or £12.00 Waitrose

Leftfield Alabariño White Wine.

Best supermarket red wines under £15

From big and bold bottles to lighter, more herbal underdogs, I’ve covered it all in my supermarket red wine picks. I’ve gone for two Spanish reds, a French Côtes du Rhône, and to round things off, a brilliant Argentinian Malbec. All under £15, all supermarket-friendly, and all worth a spot in your basket.

Care Garnacha Nativa

Man, I’d love to gatekeep this one, but that’s not what we’re about on Female Original. This Spanish Garnacha is sensational. It’s bursting with deep dark cherry and ripe raspberry, but balanced by a nice warm spice and oak in the background. It’s got great texture and weight, but is still super easy-drinking. For me, it’s one of the best supermarket Garnacha wines out there. Try it for yourself and let me know if you agree. RRP £12.00 TESCO (£10.50 on Clubcard at time of writing).

M Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Villages

For a classic Côtes du Rhône, the M Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône Villages is a perfect introduction and a great price too. Côtes du Rhône is known for dry red wine, with bold fruit flavours (red fruits, stewed fruits), and the M Chapoutier Village delivers it all. Packed with ripe red fruit, warming charred oak and a hit of black pepper, it sums up Côtes du Rhône red wine perfectly. In fact, I love it so much that I’ve actually got a full review of the bottle right here. RRP £12.00 TESCO

Zuccardi Serie A Malbec

I’ll admit I don’t often reach for a Malbec. I find that I’m usually naturally drawn to Spanish and Italian red wines, as they’re usually my favourites, but this Argentinian Malbec from Zuccardi was an unlikely winner. If you’re sometimes put off by how heavy Malbecs are, I reckon you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the lightness and almost herbal quality of the Zuccardi Serie A Malbec. It’s top of the budget, sitting at £15.00 a bottle at TESCO, but for me it’s worth it. RRP £15.00 TESCO

Tesco Finest Ribera Del Duero

One thing about me? I stand by the Tesco Finest wine range (well, for the most part). It’s not the first time I’ve recommended a supermarket wine, and it’s certainly not the last (I’ve even got another one in this article!). Made with Tempranillo grapes, the Tesco Finest Ribera Del Duero is a rich and full-bodied red wine packed with dark fruit and spice. Pair it with some Spanish cheese (Manchego or Picos de Europa) for the full experience. RRP £12.00 TESCO

A bottle of M. Chapoutier Côtes du Rhône ‘Belleruche’ Rouge – French red wine review.

Affordable rosé wines under £15

Whilst I may have struggled to share more than one amazing supermarket rosé under £10 in my last review, I think I’m about to make up for it with some fantastic rosé wines under £15 right here.

Pomal Rosé Rioja

We’re sticking to Spain with my first rosé under £15, with this refreshing Rioja. Think raspberries, strawberries and super fresh flavours with this bottle of Pomal Rosé Rioja. It’s sharp and citrussy, but balanced by beautiful floral notes. If you’re looking for something different to your usual Provence rosé, definitely give this one a go. RRP £12.20 Ocado

Denbies Rose Hill

Speaking of something different – how about an English rosé? From the Surrey Hills, the Denbies Rose Hill is dry and light-bodied with red fruits and citrus, balanced by a touch of creaminess on the finish. A great introduction to English rosé. RRP £12.00 Ocado

Tesco Finest Provence Rose

Of course, if you’d rather stick with your favourite Provence rosé, I won’t blame you. It’s my go-to for spring and summer sipping, and for good reason. Light, dry, and filled with fresh strawberry and stone fruit flavours, with a crisp citrus lift. At £10.50 a bottle at TESCO, it’s a brilliant supermarket rosé under £15.

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Provence Rosé

Because I know just how much Provence rosé is loved, it only felt right to share another favourite own-brand supermarket Provence. If you enjoyed the Tesco Finest Provence Rosé, this Sainsbury’s pick is a brilliant alternative. I personally find it a little fruitier than the Tesco Provence, but both deliver all the classic Provence flavours – fresh strawberries, red berries, and zesty citrus notes. RRP £11.75 Sainsbury’s

Sparkling wines under £15

To finish things off in style, here are my top sparkling wines under £15. From classic cuvée to fizz from famous faces, these bottles prove you don’t need to splash out to enjoy a bit of sparkle.

A bottle of Denbies Rose Hill Rosé English wine.
Bird in Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir 2024 wine.

Villa Maria Sparkling Cuvée Brut

New to New Zealand sparkling wine? This is the perfect place to start. I’m a big fan of Villa Maria wines in general, but their Sparkling Cuvée Brut has become a new favourite. It’s dry with well-balanced citrus and floral notes, but what stood out to me was how soft but long-lasting the bubbles were. A real crowd-pleaser and a great introduction to New Zealand Sparkling. RRP £12.98 ASDA

Bird in Hand

Okay, technically, this one’s over budget. BUT don’t go anywhere. At £16, it’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s usually on offer at Waitrose for £12, so I’m counting it as under £15. While it’s not officially labelled as a sparkling rosé, this blush pink beauty has flavours of fresh raspberry and strawberry, with delicate floral notes. If red and pink fruit sparklings are your thing, definitely add this one to your list. RRP £16.00 (on offer at Waitrose for £12.00 at time of writing)

Kylie Minogue Prosecco Rosé

Honestly, what can’t this woman do? I’m usually sceptical of celebrity wines, and I never buy something just for the name – but believe me, this fizz really does have the WOW factor (pardon the pun). It’s citrusy, packed with red fruit, and has a delicate floral note. Overall, it’s a seriously strong sparkling rosé prosecco that’s easy to enjoy. RRP £11.50 TESCO
