Lady of the Grapes Wine Bar Review – Covent Garden’s Female-Founded Wine Bar

Review: Lady of the Grapes Wine Bar

A female-founded wine bar in Covent Garden, with plenty of Parisian charm.

Moving to London from Liverpool, I quickly realised just how many wine bars there are. So many, in fact, that it can be a little overwhelming to know where to go—especially in Central, where your mission often feels more about escaping the crowds than finding somewhere truly special. While I’ve got plenty of favourites in North London, finding a genuinely great wine bar in Central London is a lot trickier. But I’ve done my share of exploring (someone has to), and there’s one place I always find myself returning to in Central: Lady of the Grapes – a long-time favourite, tucked away in the heart of Covent Garden.

Lady of the Grapes – Wine Bar & Deli in Covent Garden

Based in Covent Garden, Lady of the Grapes is an organic wine bar, restaurant, and shop with a carefully curated selection of organic and biodynamic wines in London – no additives, low in sulphites, and completely natural. Natural wine bars aren’t exactly hard to come by in London (understatement), but the Parisian charm of Lady of the Grapes, paired with its thoughtfully chosen wines, isn’t ten a penny.

What really sets it apart is its dedication to women in wine. Founded by Carole Bryon, the team champions female winemakers in London and beyond, and stocks bottles from female-run and female-founded wineries worldwide. It’s a rare space that feels both considered and celebratory—a triple whammy of women in wine.

What to order at Lady of the Grapes

Wine, of course! I wish I could give you an exact recommendation, but the wine list changes frequently – so the glass I love today might not even be on the menu when you pop in. What I can say is that the selection is extensive: white, red, rosé, sparkling, orange…you name it, they’ve got it.

My advice? Take a seat at the high stools in the window for prime people-watching, ask the lovely staff for a recommendation, and whatever you choose, pair it with some Nocellara olives. You’re welcome.

If you’re looking for something more substantial, book a table for dinner and make the most of their seasonal dishes alongside sensational wines. I’ve only ever stopped by for a glass of wine and some olives, but from what I’ve seen, the food looks absolutely brilliant.
