This is certainly overdue… but it’s here nonetheless! I realise it’s been almost two weeks since Christmas day but after asking on Twitter if this was still something you were interested in reading the majority of votes were pointing to yes. So, here it is. What I got for Christmas and what I picked up in the sales.
If you’ve been following my blog then you’ll know about my love of all things jewellery. I’ve dedicated a few posts to accessories already and I’m definitely planning on this being a running theme within my blog. Long story short, I bloody love accessories. I just think that popping on a statement pair of earrings can transform an outfit instantly. Anyway, I won’t bore you with my jewellery obsession. If you want to read more about that then check out my post on enhancing outfits with accessories. The reason that I’m yapping on about jewellery is that, as you can guess, I got a couple of new pieces for Christmas this year.
After travelling to Malaga in the Summer I discovered a gorgeous jewellery shop and fell in love with almost everything that they sold there. When I took a trip to Seville with my family in December, my parents went onto Malaga afterwards for a few days. During their stay they took a trip to the shop and picked up a few little gems for me. Can you spot the earrings here?
In general, I’m not a big brand person when it comes to clothing. I’d rather wear unbranded or subtly branded items than those with clear labels on them. However, the one brand that I do love wearing is Dr Martens. I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since I bought my first pair of docs back in sixth form. It must’ve been almost 6 years ago now (oh my god how horrific is that…I’m old!) when I bought a pair for school. Ever since then I’ve had a bit of a collection going of shoes, boots and bags. This Christmas I was completely overjoyed to add a scarf to my collection. You might’ve noticed that I love a bit of a yellow (my blog highlight colour is yellow after all). My parents, knowing this, chose this yellow checked scarf for me. I’ve already worn it on many a trip out over the holidays and can’t wait to get some more use out of it soon!
This was the one gift that I knew I was getting as myself and my mum bought each other a lipstick when we went out together. My go-to shade for day to night, Mac’s Creme in Your Coffee is one of my all time favourite shades. I was running low on my current lipstick and needed a replacement. There’s no way I could be without it!
Another present from Malaga was this gorgeous belt. There’s just something about Spain when it comes to belts – they always seem to have so many original and stylish options. This was a real surprise gift for me, but one that was much needed too! I’ve only had the one black belt for years and, as much as I love it, it’s starting to look a bit worse for wear. What I love about this one is the fact that it’s two tone. As someone who owns a lot of different trousers and jeans it’s nice to have a belt that will go with everything. Plus, since it’s plaited, there are a lot of different settings to put the belt on. So whether I’m wearing high-waisted jeans or mid-rise trousers I can adjust the belt to fit them perfectly.
My one and only sale shopping purchase (…so far) was this stunning & Other Stories coat. Only a few months back & Other Stories set up shop in Liverpool city centre (much to my excitement). As soon as I heard about the new store opening I couldn’t wait to come home from university for Christmas and head there myself. I had a browse in the shop pre-Christmas and spotted this coat straight away. But, with a price tag of almost £160 I just couldn’t justify buying it. Fast forward a week I checked the site to see if it was in the sale online. Spoiler alert…it wasn’t.
However, me being the fashion lover that I am, I headed into town to check out the sales anyway. I went into the store and saw that it was 40% off. In total disbelief I grabbed my size and headed to the checkout to pay! Honestly I’m still buzzing from this purchase. I hadn’t bought any clothing for myself in a little while so I was thrilled to find what I wanted on sale. Again, you might have seen it featured in my 5 Goals for the New Year post and I can definitely see it making more regular appearances on the blog. Strangely, it still isn’t on sale on their website. So, if you wanted one of your own you’d have to check in-store. I wish I had a slightly more exciting image of it than the official website one but alas I do not.
Have you done any sale shopping this year? Are you someone who hits the sales hard or would rather pick up a piece or two and leave it at that. Let me know in the comments.
