The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

The Single Girls Guide to Valentine's Day - Female Original

So, it’s that time of the year again…Valentine’s Day. As someone who’s always felt indifferent to the day as whole, when it comes around each year it’s pretty much been a day that I’ve never really thought twice about. It’s just another day of the year isn’t it? But, then again, in recent years I’ve realised that maybe it isn’t ‘just another day’. Maybe it’s actually the perfect excuse to treat yourself, especially if you’re single. Which is why I’m sharing my ultimate single girls guide to Valentine’s Day with you. Here are four ways to spend Valentine’s Day as a single woman. This post contains affiliate links.

The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day: Watch A Film That Always Gives You That ‘Feel-Good’ Feeling

Okay, so just because it’s Valentine’s Day that doesn’t mean everything has to get all romantic. Of course you can watch a romantic comedy if you want, but how about just watching a film that makes you feel good? Romance or not. If you want to watch a crime thriller or a western then go for it. Embrace the fact that being single on Valentine’s Day means you can do whatever YOU want. My ultimate feel-good (and probably favourite ever) film is School of Rock. But I have to say I do love a good drama as well. What’s your ultimate feel-good film?

Guide to Valentine’s Day: Make Yourself Your Favourite Cocktail

Would it even be an F O post if I didn’t mention how much I love a good cocktail? I think not. If there’s ever a reason for a mid-week cocktail (or two…or three) it’s most definitely Valentine’s Day. And man have I got some really great suggestions for you to try out for yourself this Valentine’s Day.

For the prosecco lover: A French 75

What you need: gin, prosecco, lemon juice and sugar syrup.

For the gin fans: A Gin Fizz

What you need: gin, soda water, lemon juice and sugar syrup.

For the girls who love a good strong drink (my people!): An Espresso Martini

What you need: Jägermeister Cold Brew, coffee, Nutella and sugar syrup.

For any of you who are looking for a booze-free option, I’ve got you! Why not try out a ‘Sea & T’ from Sea Arch or a delicious CleanGin. Both are amazing low and alcohol free alternatives to a gin and are sure to make you feel like you’re really treating yourself.

Guide to Valentine’s Day: Make Yourself Something Tasty to Eat (or order in)

As a huge foodie, I couldn’t miss out one of my favourite ways to spoil myself…making something delicious to eat. I know that not everyone is into their cooking, and sometimes you just can’t be bothered. So if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself this Valentine’s Day then order yourself your favourite takeaway straight to your door. My ultimate feel-good food is, realistically, anything carby. Who doesn’t love a carb? Pasta, pizza, garlic bread…I’ll have it all. Ideally finished off with a tiramisu…oh, and a glass of wine (obviously). Whatever your go to is, treat yourself to it, you deserve it.

Guide to Valentine’s Day: Listen to a Banging Playlist

Speaking of food, whenever I cook myself something special I’ll always put on some great tunes while I do it. Which brings me to my fourth and final point: put on a banging playlist. Watching your favourite film is one thing, but can you really beat having a boogie to some of your ultimate jams? Now I’m sure you’ve all got your own mega mix playlists, BUT if you’re looking for something new then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve got funk, disco and alternative playlists all ready to go…and loads more as well. Head on over to my music section for the full list. So pop on a playlist and get your groove on.

Are you someone who celebrates Valentine’s Day? What are you planning for this year? Are you having a chilled night for one or are you spending it with a loved one? Let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to let me know what your ultimate feel-good film is.

I’m gonna be having a chilled day by myself, but I’m totally ok with that. Actually planning to have a little pamper session as well, might do some baking as well so I can enjoy some treats as I watch a film or two. I love Valentine’s for its origins & true meanings, so I disregard the blatant (& unfortunate) commercialism of the holiday. I feel like Thursday is such a random day to be your fav of the week, but that’s so cool :’) I think Saturdays are my fav xx

What a lovely post! And really, we should be doing these things every day ❤️ As for me, im working on the other side kf the country on V day, so I’ll be on the road a lot. I’ll probably end up reading a book in the train and ordering takeaway when I finally get home

Maybe the single ladies should see it as just an other day, then it might not be so difficult. It’s a working day, so be the best at what you do and go an extra mile by adding value and giving expertise to those who might need it for their relationships or in other areas.

These are great ideas to do for yourself on Valentine’s Day or any day / evening you have to yourself. For Valentine’s Day this year, I watched a horror film and had a comforting dinner of sausage, chips and beans.

Even though I’m not single I still do all of this and still celebrate it with a meal out with my partner. I don’t see valentines just for couples it’s a day to remember how to love yourself. Me and the girls had a night in with food and drinks (mainly gin) the night before, then at the weekend went to the spa. I enjoy celebrating it more with the girls, to me it’s all about women empowerment.
