So, it’s that time of the year again…Valentine’s Day. As someone who’s always felt indifferent to the day as whole, when it comes around each year it’s pretty much been a day that I’ve never really thought twice about. It’s just another day of the year isn’t it? But, then again, in recent years I’ve realised that maybe it isn’t ‘just another day’. Maybe it’s actually the perfect excuse to treat yourself, especially if you’re single. Which is why I’m sharing my ultimate single girls guide to Valentine’s Day with you. Here are four ways to spend Valentine’s Day as a single woman. This post contains affiliate links.
The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day: Watch A Film That Always Gives You That ‘Feel-Good’ Feeling
Okay, so just because it’s Valentine’s Day that doesn’t mean everything has to get all romantic. Of course you can watch a romantic comedy if you want, but how about just watching a film that makes you feel good? Romance or not. If you want to watch a crime thriller or a western then go for it. Embrace the fact that being single on Valentine’s Day means you can do whatever YOU want. My ultimate feel-good (and probably favourite ever) film is School of Rock. But I have to say I do love a good drama as well. What’s your ultimate feel-good film?
Guide to Valentine’s Day: Make Yourself Your Favourite Cocktail
Would it even be an F O post if I didn’t mention how much I love a good cocktail? I think not. If there’s ever a reason for a mid-week cocktail (or two…or three) it’s most definitely Valentine’s Day. And man have I got some really great suggestions for you to try out for yourself this Valentine’s Day.
For the prosecco lover: A French 75
For the gin fans: A Gin Fizz
What you need: gin, soda water, lemon juice and sugar syrup.
For the girls who love a good strong drink (my people!): An Espresso Martini
What you need: Jägermeister Cold Brew, coffee, Nutella and sugar syrup.
For any of you who are looking for a booze-free option, I’ve got you! Why not try out a ‘Sea & T’ from Sea Arch or a delicious CleanGin. Both are amazing low and alcohol free alternatives to a gin and are sure to make you feel like you’re really treating yourself.

Guide to Valentine’s Day: Make Yourself Something Tasty to Eat (or order in)
As a huge foodie, I couldn’t miss out one of my favourite ways to spoil myself…making something delicious to eat. I know that not everyone is into their cooking, and sometimes you just can’t be bothered. So if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself this Valentine’s Day then order yourself your favourite takeaway straight to your door. My ultimate feel-good food is, realistically, anything carby. Who doesn’t love a carb? Pasta, pizza, garlic bread…I’ll have it all. Ideally finished off with a tiramisu…oh, and a glass of wine (obviously). Whatever your go to is, treat yourself to it, you deserve it.
Guide to Valentine’s Day: Listen to a Banging Playlist
Speaking of food, whenever I cook myself something special I’ll always put on some great tunes while I do it. Which brings me to my fourth and final point: put on a banging playlist. Watching your favourite film is one thing, but can you really beat having a boogie to some of your ultimate jams? Now I’m sure you’ve all got your own mega mix playlists, BUT if you’re looking for something new then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve got funk, disco and alternative playlists all ready to go…and loads more as well. Head on over to my music section for the full list. So pop on a playlist and get your groove on.
Are you someone who celebrates Valentine’s Day? What are you planning for this year? Are you having a chilled night for one or are you spending it with a loved one? Let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to let me know what your ultimate feel-good film is.
