When it comes to working out, the music that I’m listening to has such a huge impact on how I perform. If I’m listening to a playlist of great songs, I’ll want to work that little bit harder on the treadmill. It’s as if as soon as one of my favourite songs comes on I’ll suddenly get a huge burst of energy. Whether it’s a throwback ’00s tune or a bass-y groove, music makes or breaks my workout. I know that I’m not alone in saying that music is a massive part of a workout. So I’ve picked out 20 great songs that are on my running playlist at the moment and I’m sharing them with you in this post.
My Running Playlist
One of the key things to keep in mind when you’re making a workout playlist, whether it be for running or something else, is the sort of mood you’re going for. Sometimes for things like running it’s a good idea to choose songs with a certain bpm. That way you can run along to the beat of the song (which is so satisfying). I often alternate between running, jogging and walking when I workout so I like to have a variety of different speeds and genres on my playlist.
I love adding a lot of pop music to my workout playlists because they’re just so upbeat. They always have a really steady and simple beat as well which is ideal for running along to. As well as general pop music I’m also a fan of a good throwback tune. Nothing gets me more hyped up to workout than ’00s Kylie Minogue and old skool girls bands. You can’t beat a sing-along hit can you?
Anyway, hopefully this has been a helpful playlist for those of you who are looking for a new workout playlist. If you’re someone who’s thinking of getting back into working out or maybe even just starting, I recommend starting by making yourself a great playlist. Obvs I’d recommend giving this one a listen first! For me, the main part of a workout is to make it fun. If you’re not having fun then why even bother at all?
What are some of your go-to workout songs? Leave song recommendations in the comments and I’ll check them out. I’m always looking to expand my playlists so send me some songs to add.
