A bit about Mindful Mixology

Mindful Mixology is a UK-based cocktail company that’s on a mission to deliver delicious bottled cocktails made from quality ingredients that aren’t packed with sugars. In fact, all of their cocktails are made with either significantly less or zero sugar! They’re also hand-crafted and made, bottled and distributed all around the UK from their North Norfolk HQ.

So, what does the ‘mindful’ in Mindful Mixology mean?

The word ‘mindful’ can mean so many different things: a consciousness, an awareness of something, a presence and a sense of being in the moment. But, when it comes to the Mindful Mixology brand, ‘mindful’ means four very specific things:

  1. Everything is recyclable or compostable
  2. Donations to charity every time a box is bought
  3. Support for local brands
  4. Drinks that are better for you

Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a better reason to order yourself some cocktails than the four above. Not only are you getting amazing drinks, but you’re also supporting great causes, local businesses and shopping in an environmentally friendly way.

Supporting the Music Venue Trust

In addition to their commitment to supporting brilliant organisations and environmentally friendly methods, what drew me most to Mindful Mixology was that they support the Music Venue Trust by giving a percentage of their profits to the organisation. The Music Venue Trust is a UK Registered Charity that protects, secures and improves grassroots music venues in the UK, all for the benefit of venues, communities and new artists.

Mindful Mixology also supports local musicians and artists in any way that they can. One of the ways that they continue to do this is through their design collaboration with an artist in Brighton, Mc Cash Back. They worked with him to develop a range of bottle labels that have been inspired by iconic musicians. So, every cocktail that you order from Mindful Mixology features an incredible label of an icon from music history. That’s taking drinks and music pairing to a whole new level – and I absolutely love it!

Mindful Mixology Grapefruit Margarita

The first cocktail that I tried out was the Grapefruit Margarita. As a marg-lover myself, I was thoroughly excited for this fruity twist on the classic cocktail. To serve, I added some jalepeño salt around the rim of my glass, filled it with crushed ice and poured my drink. Taking my first sip, I was seriously wowed. It has the perfect bitter-sweet balance that I expect from a great margarita, and the addition of the jalepeño salt helped to deliver a welcomed kick of spice. What a winner.

Which iconic musician is on the bottle?

The face of the Mindful Mixology Grapefruit Margarita is Minnie Riperton! Here are a few of her songs to pair with your marg:

  1. Lovin’ You
  2. Les Fleurs
  3. Inside My Love

Mindful Mixology 0% Grapefruit Margarita

As well as their Grapefruit Marg, Mindful Mixology also have a 0% alcohol version of the cocktail for anyone who doesn’t drink, or is simply just looking to try out some alcohol-free alternatives. Having had my mind suitably blown by their alcoholic Grapefruit Margarita, I had high expectations for the alcohol-free equivalent.

Appearance-wise, there was absolutely no difference. They both had a lovely pale pink/orange tint to them. The scent was almost entirely the same as well. The only difference was the kick of tequila. Instead, the AF marg had a lovely citrus scent. As for the taste? It hit and exceeded my expectations. It was light and tangy with a really powerful hit of lime which helped to create the kick of alcohol that it was lacking. As an alcohol-free alternative to a margarita, it’d be seriously hard to find something better!

Which iconic musician is on the bottle?

Reppin’ the AF Grapefruit Margarita is our very own material girl, Madonna! Here are a few of her songs to pair with your AF marg:

  1. Vogue
  2. Into the Groove
  3. Papa Don’t Preach

Mindful Mixology Salted Coconut Espresso Martini

Rounding off my trio of treats is the Mindful Mixology Salted Coconut Espresso Martini. HOT DAMN was this fantastic. It is seriously up there as one of my favourite espresso martinis ever. Even better, I could drink it at home with zero effort on my part!

There was a slight sweetness to it from the coconut which was certainly welcomed. Long-time readers will know that I’m not often a fan of a sweet drink but, since the Mindful Mixology Espresso Martini only had a hint of sweetness to it, it really helped to balance that harshness that espresso martinis can often have. The whole feel of it was smooth and creamy, almost silky in fact – and the froth was incredible. All I had to do was pop it in my cocktail shaker with a bit of ice and give it a good ‘ole shake for 20 seconds. Et voila. The frothiest espresso martini you ever did see appears!

Which iconic musician is on the bottle?

Nothing says Salted Coconut Espresso Martini like our resident smooth operator, Sade!  Here are a few of her songs to pair with your Espresso Martini:

  1. Your Love is King
  2. Smooth Operator
  3. No Ordinary Love

  1. I am fascinated by the idea of the coconut espresso one as I have never tried those two flavors together! I can imagine them tasting quite nice, and I am always up for a grapefruit drink as it is so light and refreshing. Love the fun packaging too!
