In just over a week I’m heading back to my home city of Liverpool for Easter break at university. Heading back home always gets me thinking about what new blog content I could make. New bars and restaurants are always popping up around the city so, each time I head home there’s somewhere new to discover. With new discoveries come new blog post inspirations. It got me thinking, however, about the last time I wrote a blog post about Liverpool. And, after realising that it had been over 6 months since I’ve posted about the city I was completely shocked. I guess this is what happens when you’re in your final year of university!
Since discovering this, I came to the conclusion that it was time to share another post about one of the gems that my favourite city has to offer. If you haven’t read my last Liverpool post about Einstein Bier Haus then definitely check that out here. Or, if you’re looking for some fabulous foodie spots then make sure to check out Maray Albert Dock and Albert’s Schenke. This post, however, is all about a fairly new discovery of mine; Castle Street Townhouse.
25-27 Castle St, Liverpool, L2 4TA
Going off the title alone, it isn’t exactly clear what Castle Street Townhouse could be. A restaurant? Bar? An actual house? It could be anything. But, if you know me from my blog, you know that I love a) a prosecco, gin or wine (just a great drink in general will do!) and b) amazing food. Put the two together and you have Castle Street Townhouse. Located on Castle Street in Liverpool (hardly a shock haha!), Castle Street Townhouse offers food, drinks and live music throughout the week. Their weekly events include Wine Wednesday, Fizz Friday and a Sunday Roast with live music. Now, I have to admit I am yet to try the food, but it has become somewhat of a local drinking spot for me whenever I take a trip home to the good ole North.
One of my favourite things about the venue has to be the decor. Around the bar area are large, floor to ceiling beams with circular tables around them which is a design feature that I love. It adds a slightly casual vibe to the space and is ideal if you don’t want to sit at the bar or have a table for dining. Plus, it reminds me of something that would appear in a classic Spanish tapas bar. And you know how much I love Spain! The bar itself is a pretty spectacular standout feature as well. The fact that it’s fully stocked with all of my favourite gins is just a bonus (for anyone wondering I went with a classic Hendricks).
Have any of you visited Castle Street Townhouse before? What did you think of it? I will no doubt be taking a trip or two…or three there while I’m home for a few weeks. If you’re planning a trip to the city centre anytime soon then I’d definitely recommend you give it a visit yourself. Of course let me know what you thought of it if you do take a trip there.
