As of recent I’ve been spending my days in baggy jeans (yes, I’m one of those jeans indoors people, and what?), oversized jumpers and fluffy slipper socks. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s sporting a super comfy and casual lockdown uniform. But every now and then, to try and create some normality, I’ll get dressed up in something that I’d usually wear outside of the house. So I’m starting a new mini series called ‘I Got Dressed Today’ to share an insight into what I’ve been wearing recently and to try and bring a little bit of fun to lockdown too.
My Current Uniform
Before I share the outfit for I Got Dressed Today I figured I may as well show my current at-home uniform as well. If you follow me over on Instagram then you will’ve seen it already but for those of you that haven’t 1.Go and give me a follow on there and 2.Here it is.
As featured on the & Other Stories website
Jumper – & Other Stories | Jeans – Urban Outfitters, old BDG (similar) | Bandana – Lisbon Market Stall (similar)
I Got Dressed Today: Celebration Outfit
So first of all…the reason I bothered to get dressed. It was my mums birthday so I felt as though I should put on some shoes for the first time that week (luckily this time I didn’t find a lip balm inside them –> see tweet for ref). Obviously it was far from ideal circumstances for her to be celebrating her birthday but we made the best of it. And dressing up in real clothes was a great place to start.
Jumper – & Other Stories | Jeans – ARKET (similar) | Socks – ARKET | Shoes – Superga | Bracelet – Pandora
The Jumper
I decided to go for something that was dressed up enough to feel like I’d made an effort but comfy enough to sit in the garden drinking champagne and eating homemade Victoria Sponge cake. My puffy sleeved & Other Stories jumper is one of my favourite pieces from my wardrobe. I picked it up back in January when I was down in London visiting a friend and have been wearing it non-stop since. In my head it’s my ‘dressy jumper’. I think that’s mostly because of the puffy sleeves. Puffy sleeves just bring all of the dressed-up vibes, don’t they?
The Jeans
My ARKET jeans are another key piece in my wardrobe. I picked them up in the sale last year and I honestly think they’re one of the best purchases I’ve made in the last 12 months. They go with absolutely everything. They’re casual enough to wear with a trainer. But also versatile enough to rock with a heel. Not that I’m going anywhere that requires heels anytime soon.
The Shoes
As for my trainers I always go for a Superga. I’m really not big on super branded trainers. As someone who often dresses smart-casual, super branded trainers just don’t work with my wardrobe. Instead I go for simple designs with a mega statement flatform sole. This pair replaced one of my older pairs of Superga’s that were looking really worn out. I still have them…but they’re a bit more grey than I’d like.
The clean design of Superga trainers is something that I love so much about them. I find that because they’re so simplistic they’re incredibly easy to style. Plus they’re super comfy as well. Although if you’re thinking of getting a pair yourself I should warn you, they’re really heavy. As someone who’s worn Dr Martens for the past 7 years, I’m used to a weighty shoe. But if you’re not used to them then be prepared!
The Accessories
To finish it all off I went with my statement electric blue ARKET socks. My pale green ones that I was planning on wearing were sadly in the wash. But I reckon the blue ones still looked the business. I loved how much they stood out against the white trainers.
For jewellery I wore my classic Tissot watch that I wear everyday. Alongside that I styled my Pandora Link bracelet that I received as a gift at a press event for Pandora last year. To finish everything off I added one of my favourite pairs of earrings from a small jewellery store in Malaga.
There you have it. What I wore for a dressed up day in lockdown. What’re your thoughts on the outfit? Do you also have an at home uniform? Let me know in the comments.
I thought it might be fun to feature YOU in this series and what you’ve been wearing at home during lockdown. Did you get dressed up for an at home birthday celebration? Did you bother to put shoes on simply because it was a Saturday? Send me a photo of yourself in your favourite at home outfit or a link to a photo you’ve shared on Instagram. Add a little description of why you got dressed up that day and where you got your clothes from. I might end up featuring it in the next post or in my newsletter!

I love this post and all your outfits 😍 plus I am also a jeans person! I love dressing up and honestly I make up random excuses whilst at home! The photo I linked I have worn A LOT during lockdown! I decided to dress up because I had been having a few down days and so thought what better than a bright yellow dress to make me feel better! 😁 *its from ASOS last year!
Great post xx

Thank you so much! Oooh I love the photo you linked, I’ll make note of it for the next post 🙂 x

So funny – my mum’s birthday last month was one of the first days of lockdown that I’d made a real effort with my appearance too. I’ve been doing the same thing where I have a day or two a week making sure I’m wearing my regular clothes to try and remember what real life looks like (also, fellow jeans indoors person here). I think it helps! x

May 18, 2020
Yes to the jeans indoors squad! Putting on regular clothes definitely helps things feel slightly less strange right now. It’s nice to experiment with new outfits too! x
May 18, 2020
This is a great idea! I’ve been enjoying wearing a dress because it’s so easy to throw on, and you feel like you’ve made a big effort!
May 19, 2020
Thank you! I’ve been wearing a few of my midi dresses recently – definitely agree that they’re so easy to throw on and you feel super put together in them x
May 18, 2020
This is a great idea! I feel like I need to do something like this so I don’t just sit in a rotation of pyjamas each day haha.

Thank you! It definitely helps getting dressed up every now and then 🙂 x
May 18, 2020
Loving this idea of a mini series! I don’t even wear jeans on a normal day let alone indoors but fair enough!
Need to start doing this for sure!

May 19, 2020
Thank you so much! It’s definitely worth getting dressed up every now and then 🙂 x
May 18, 2020
This is such a fun post and idea! You look fab too <3 I've spent almost every day in lockdown in leggings and a t-shirt. I can't remember the last time I wore make up! I've forgotten what "outside" clothes feel like!
May 19, 2020
Thanks so much Jenny! The makeup was definitely a one off for that day haha, I don’t normally wear much (if any!). x
May 18, 2020
I’ve been rocking the leggings a lot lately! I mean, I was before the virus came in but I’m not making the effort to dress it up the same right now. I’m rocking baggy t shirts and hoodies rather than pairing my leggings with fancier shirts and fun accessories. Every now and then I’ll dress it up a bit though lol It feels good to do it, right? A little normalcy in light of this craziness.
May 19, 2020
Haha love that! Oh for sure, getting dressed up just makes everything seem a lot less strange 🙂 x
May 18, 2020
Such a great lockdown series! It’s fun to see realistically what people are wearing at home. I like that mint color of your jumper and pairing it with the trainers makes it so springy!
Natonya | https://JustNatonya.wordpress.com
May 19, 2020
It’s fun to get dressed up every now and then! The mint jumper is definitely one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe 🙂 x
May 18, 2020
You got dressed AND you look freaking fabulous to boot! I love your cozy outfit. It makes me want to break out all my sweaters again. I miss the cooler months.
May 19, 2020
Aw thank you! Even with the sun it’s still just cool enough to wear jumpers here in the UK 🙂 x
May 18, 2020
What a great idea! I need to start doing this to actually make me get dressed 😂 I’m very much a pj all day person haha
May 27, 2020
Haha, it definitely helps things seem a bit more normal right now x
May 18, 2020
I absolutely love this, such a good idea. It’s so easy just to stay in your comfy clothes all day. It’s my wedding anniversary soon and I’m planning on dressing up so I’ll share my outfit with you! ❤️
May 19, 2020
Thank you! Oooh definitely share the outfit with me – I’d love to see it 🙂 I hope you have a lovely day celebrating x
May 18, 2020
Loving your top with the blue of those jeans!
It feels good to get dressed and just go outside and smile. 🙂
May 19, 2020
Thank you! For sure, it’s nice to put together an outfit and enjoy the outdoors for a bit (even if it is just your own garden haha) x
May 19, 2020
I’ve put on jeans a grand total of twice this month :’) Sundays are the day I put on a spot of makeup and some real clothes haha! I’m obsessed with that cute sweater; flared sleeves are so pretty & add the nicest touch xx
May 20, 2020
It’s great to get dressed up once a week if you can! It definitely helps everything seem a bit more normal at the moment 🙂 x
May 19, 2020
You look great! I’ve been spending my indoor time in my favourite old clothes (lots of tips and tears) but so glad I didn’t throw them out! I can’t wait to find a reason to get properly dressed again!!!xxx
May 20, 2020
Thank you! I’m loving lounging in my big baggy jeans (there’s definitely a few paint stains on them from DIY haha) but it’s lovely to get dressed up too 🙂 x
May 19, 2020
I’m spending my days comfortable in jeans and a hoody (or t-shirt when it gets warm). 😀
May 20, 2020
Sounds dreamy! x
May 19, 2020
That jumper is gorgeous and it looks super comfy! I definitely need to take a leaf out of your book and wear some nicer clothes, I can’t imagine I’ll ever want to wear jeans again after this is over haha.
I hope your mum had a good birthday! 🙂
May 19, 2020
It’s super comfy! I’ve loved getting dressed up every now and then – it’s worth giving a go 🙂 She did thank you! x
May 19, 2020
You look great! I can’t wait to get out of the house more and have the need to get properly dressed each day! xxx
May 19, 2020
Thank you so much! Same here x
May 19, 2020
Looks cute AND comfy! I sit for working from home so none of my jeans are comfy enough for sitting all day, but I do have some wonderful fitted stretch-waist pants that allow me to move straight from sitting to stretching without having to change. It’s so hard getting motivated to wear something that’s not so flexible though o.o
May 27, 2020
Thank you! Wearing jeans at home isn’t for everyone – if I didn’t have baggy jeans then I’d probably be in stretchy waist pants too! x
May 19, 2020
I totally get not always getting dressed so to speak especially during these trying times.
May 19, 2020
It’s nice to get dressed up every now and then! But I’m definitely enjoying chilling in my baggy jeans too haha x
May 19, 2020
You look fab! Love the outfit, I have also tried to dress up a little bit every so often. Its usually weekends for me where I actually wear my usual ‘outdoor’ clothes as in the week I just about get up in time to start work so end up in joggers and a cosy jumper whilst I’m sat at the computer working. Its going to be a struggle when I have to go back into the office and wear acceptable clothes for work haha. Great post!

May 20, 2020
Thank you so much! The weekends are when I usually get dressed up as well. I think it makes them seem more like weekends if that makes sense! x
May 19, 2020
Great post! I’ve made sure to put clothes that aren’t pyjamas on every day since lockdown started, though they’re definitely not as cool as those outfits 😂.

Thank you! Haha I only get dressed up properly around once a week, the other days I’m either in baggy jeans or sportswear x
May 20, 2020
I love this outfit, it looks super comfy. I’m also a jeans indoor person, but lately I’ve been sporting some comfy joggers around the house. I think this blog post is such a lovely idea!
May 20, 2020
Thank you! Woo, another jeans indoors person! Being comfy around the house is essential 🙂 x
May 20, 2020

May 20, 2020
Aw thank you so much! Definitely – it makes everything seem slightly more normal 🙂 x
May 20, 2020
Love these outfits! I find getting dressed up everyday makes me feel a lot more human!
May 20, 2020
Thank you! Oh for sure – it definitely helps things feel slightly more normal x
May 20, 2020
This is such a good idea!
I’ve only got dressed properly a handful of times since all this for my own benefit as I’ve been living in loungewear.

Thank you! I love wearing my comfy clothes inside as well but it’s fun to get dressed up every now and then isn’t it! 🙂 x
May 20, 2020
Love it! I don’t think we need an excuse to get dressed up these days. Corona has definitely thrown all the rules out of the window. I’m either dressed up with hair, makeup & a nice outfit or looking like a total slob.. There’s no in-between. Ha. And that’s the way I like it! Lovely outfit. Loving the trainers!

May 29, 2020
Thanks so much! Haha I think I’m the weird one wearing jeans tbh x
May 24, 2020
You look lovely! I like your outfit, it’s simple yet stylish. I’ve been throwing on any random comfy clothes during lockdown, the only times I’ve dressed up a bit is when I’ve been on video calls with my friends!
June 1, 2020
Thank you so much! Video calls with friends are a great opportunity to dress up 🙂 x
May 24, 2020
You look amazing! Since the lockdown started, I have been literally living in my PJs and while that’s cozy – it definitely sometimes makes me feel under the weather. So, I like to dress up sometimes to cheer me up.
May 31, 2020
Thank you! Staying in PJs all day has the same effect on me as well. It’s nice to get dressed up every now and then 🙂 x
May 26, 2020
I’m also jeans at home person! I just feel more put together from the start if I do wear them! Also love that you are making this into a series, such a good idea for lockdown!

Thank you so much! Superga’s are great, especially if you like a low-key branded trainer 🙂 x
