Green is one of those colours that I feel really split opinions when it comes to styling it into your wardrobe. As a keen lover of the colour, I wanted to share a few of my thoughts on wearing it this Spring/Summer. I’ve always been a fan of the colour but I have to admit that I don’t wear it enough. I’m therefore challenging myself to integrate it into my wardrobe more over the next month or so. If you’re reading this and thinking green is NOT you colour, just give me a few minutes to try and change your mind. Who knows, maybe you’ll be surprised!
Go Subtle with Accessories
When you think of styling up a colour your automatic thought is what clothing you can get. But you haven’t got to go straight in with a bold piece of clothing. Why not opt for a subtle bit of jewellery? I’m pretty lucky that my birth stone is actually a peridot, so finding myself green jewellery is easy. My first idea, therefore, is to add a pop of green in your jewellery.
I’m very much into this Sea Green Charm (affiliate link) from Pandora right now (*adds to shopping cart*). I love the darker shade of green and the little bit of bling around the outside of it. It would really stand out on a classic Pandora bracelet. Or you could even add it to a simple silver chain and wear it as a necklace!
Another more minimalist way to adapt green into your wardrobe is through a bit of beauty product. A classic way that I wear green is on my nails. I love a darker, olive green shade on my nails as it has a sophistication to it. Olive green is an all time favourite colour of mine so getting to wear it is always a treat for me.
The British Spring and Summertime is definitely changeable when it comes to its climate. One minute you’ll be out in the glorious sun in your favourite summer dress. The next, the clouds will come and the temperature will quickly cool down. A green jumper could be a great way to get colour in your wardrobe. One of my favourite looks is a midi dress with a jumper over the top. I just think it adds something different to your outfit and doubles your dress as a skirt! Plus, you can choose whether you want to wear it or not throughout the day and just roll it up in your bag, or around your waist.
My go-to is my American Apparel dark green jumper that I’ve had for years. I think I had it back when I was in school about 5 years ago!
I couldn’t write a post about my love of green without featuring some of my favourite outerwear. You’ll already know all about my prized possession; my green leather coat. But, of course that isn’t ideal for the Spring/Summer at all. My olive green mac however, is perfect. I featured it back in my post all about Einstein Bier Haus (a favourite spot of mine back home in Liverpool). And I’m featuring it again here because why the hell not, ey?
What are some of your favourite ways to wear green? Are you a fan of the colour or would you rather give it a miss? Have I managed to convince any of you to give it a go? Let me know in the comments.
