The Best Foodie Mother's Day Gifts To Give This Mother's Day - Female Original

Here on Female Original I love talking about great food and drinks at every opportunity. Which is why, for this Mother’s Day, I’m sharing some of the best foodie gifts that you can treat your mum to this year. This post contains some items that were gifted to me (marked with an asterisk) as well as affiliate links. For more information please feel free to read my disclaimer and privacy policy.

For The Mum Who Loves All Things Pink (Best Foodie Mother’s Day Gifts)

To kick off the guide we’re talking all things pink…and the mums who love just that! I’ve picked out some of my favourite drinks and foodie bits that just so happen to all be pink.

Mermaid Pink Gin & Mini Trio Set* (Pink Lover)

If you’re a regular reader then I’m sure Isle of Wight Distillery’s Mermaid collection of spirits will already be familiar to you. But for anyone who’s unfamiliar, allow me to introduce them to you…starting with their Mermaid Pink Gin. Infused with fresh Isle of Wight strawberries, IoW Distillery’s Mermaid Pink Gin is the perfect spirit to treat your mum to this Mother’s Day. Slightly less sweet than some of your usual pink gins, Mermaid Pink Gin is ideal for mums who like a fruity twist in their drinks!

You can order your bottle of Mermaid Pink Gin from Master of Malt here (currently Β£5 off!).

As well as their full sized bottles, Isle of Wight Distillery also have a miniature trio set of their Mermaid Gin, Pink Gin and Salt Vodka. I absolutely love a miniature set of drinks, especially when it comes to giving gifts. They’re ideal for giving to someone if you’re not quite sure exactly what their favourite tipple is. Plus, it’s a chance to try a few new drinks without the expense of buying full-sized bottles. All of IoW Distillery’s spirits are both vegan and gluten free, as well as coming packaged in a completely plastic free bottle. Oh, and they’re ALSO a Net Zero company. Pretty epic right?

MOM Love Pink Gin* (Pink Lover)

I mean, it’s in the name really isn’t it? What mum wouldn’t be happy with a bottle of MOM Love Pink Gin this year? If you’ve followed my blog for a little while then you’ll know how sceptical I am when it comes to sweet gins (especially pink gins). In fact, until I tried Mermaid Pink Gin I was convinced that all pink gins were too sweet for me. But as it turns out, there are some really amazing pink gins out there that aren’t all about sweetness. I’ve already mentioned Mermaid Pink Gin above, but I’d also love to recommend MOM Love Gin this Mother’s Day. The smell of MOM Love Pink Gin definitely has a sweetness to it but, on the palette, it’s actually not overly sweet at all. I’d describe it as gin with a hint of delicious sweet strawberries rather than ‘strawberries first, gin second’. Both myself and my mum are ALL for it so hopefully your mum will be too!

Willie’s Cacao Raspberry Truffles* (Pink Lover)

Next up we’ve got a delicious chocolate treat in the form of Willie’s Cacao Raspberry Truffles. Using only natural ingredients, their truffles consist of creamy white chocolate praline filled with a liquid raspberry centre. Not only are they both completely delicious AND completely natural, but they’re also gluten free. Willie’s Cacao pride themselves on their high quality products which are all made in small batches, so you know that you’re getting a really great product when you shop with them. These truffles are absolute, ultimate luxury and are definitely something that every mum deserves this Mother’s Day.

Freixenet Italian Sparkling RosΓ© (Pink Lover)

Finishing off my ‘all things pink’ picks is, of course, a bottle of Freixenet’s Italian Sparkling RosΓ©. It’s no secret that this is one of my all-time favourite products so I’m sure it’s hardly a surprise to see it featured in my Mother’s Day Gift Guide this year. Freixenet’s Italian Sparkling RosΓ© is one of those products that just looks like a celebration drink. It’s got all the glamour of something spectacular and that translates through in its flavour. A delicious dry, sparkling rosΓ© that is sure to make your mum feel really special.

For The Chocolate-Loving Mum (Best Foodie Mother’s Day Gifts)

Next up it’s time to talk about the mum who loves a bit of chocolate (I mean, who doesn’t though?). Here are my top picks for this Mother’s Day.

For the mum who loves chocolate. The Best Foodie Mother's Day Gifts.

Hotel Chocolat Velvetised Chocolate Cream Liqueur (Chocolate Lover)

If your mum is someone who loves both her chocolate and her drink then you’re going to be onto a winner this Mother’s Day with Hotel Chocolat’s Velvetised Chocolate Cream Liqueur. Three words: vodka, chocolate, cream. Need I say more? Served over ice as a late night weekend tipple is the perfect way to enjoy this luxurious, velvety drink. I picked up a bottle to drink over Christmas and it went down an absolute treat. I may or may not have picked up another bottle since…*chefs kiss*.

80Noir Ultra Hot Chocolate* (Chocolate Lover)

The drinkable chocolate continues with this next gift idea from 80Noir Ultra. Focusing strongly on the health benefits that can come from high quality dark chocolate, 80Noir Ultra is a chocolate (and hot chocolate) brand bringing a moment of calm in the form of delicious chocolate. This Mother’s Day I wanted to highlight their Drinking Beads and their Chocolate Bars; both of which are 79.3% dark chocolate, vegan, and gluten and palm oil free. What stands out to me about 80Noir Ultra is the versatility of their products, particularly the 80Noir Ultra bars. Not only can they be enjoyed as a chocolate bar but they can actually be used in a hot chocolate as well depending on your mood.

Their founder, Carole Armitage says: β€œEnjoying a small amount of good quality dark chocolate is not an β€œindulgence” but a daily dose of greatness that boosts the body and de-stresses the mind”. That’s something that I think really stands out as part of the brand, especially during the current circumstances. 80Noir Ultra’s delicious hot chocolate range are the perfect products to give your mum her much needed daily moment of calm this Mother’s Day.

Ombar Centres Coconut & Vanilla* (Chocolate Lover)

Sometimes you just can’t go wrong with a classic bar of chocolate, which brings me to my next chocolatey gift: Ombar Centres Coconut & Vanilla chocolate bar. Based in Cambridge, Ombar are an organic raw chocolate brand who’s mission is to change the way the world sees chocolate. Their chocolate is all made in their Cambridge headquarters from bean to bar, and uses only the highest quality ingredients. This Mother’s Day I want to highlight their Coconut & Vanilla bar which is made using 60% cacao chocolate.

RRP Β£3.29 (70g bar) and Β£1.99 (35g bar), available at Ombar; as well as Planet Organic, Waitrose and Ocado.

If your mum is a fan of her chocolate then Ombar should definitely be on her list of chocolate brands to try. Their products are honestly completely unlike any other chocolate on the market, and it’s absolutely incredible. Their Coconut & Vanilla bar is the perfect blend of sweet coconut with a smooth vanilla centre. It’s vegan, organic and fair trade AND ALSO free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar. As an extra little gift for this Mother’s Day you really can’t get much better than this unique and delicious bar!

Popcorn Shed Gourmet Popcorn Tin* (Chocolate Lover)

So we’ve covered boozy, hot and barred chocolate…what’s next? Well, to finish it all off I’m bringing you chocolatey goodness in the form of popcorn. More specifically, Popcorn Shed’s popcorn. This Mother’s Day Popcorn Shed have got the ultimate Gourmet Popcorn Tin, jam packed with delicious popcorn. Inside are three bags of three different flavours of popcorn. What flavours are they? Caramel, Cookies & Cream and, yep you guessed it, Chocolate popcorn. If your mum is a chocolate lover then she’s sure to enjoy this twist on a typical chocolate gift.

For The Wine-Loving Mum (Best Foodie Mother’s Day Gifts)

To finish, I’ve picked out some of my favourite products that are sure to WOW all of the wine-loving mums out there. And starting it all off are my current three favourite wines (all of which have the stamp of approval by my own mum).

Dark Horse RosΓ© (Wine Lover)

My current top pick in terms of rosΓ© is very much still Dark Horse’s RosΓ©. I think this is up there with Freixenet’s Italian Sparkling RosΓ© as one of my most talked about products on here, and there’s a reason why! It’s such a great rosΓ© with a lovely fruitiness to it. Yet it’s still very much on the dry side which, with the fruity flavour, makes for the perfect rosΓ©.

Cono Sur Viogner (Wine Lover)

My Mother’s Day white wine pick has to be Cono Sur Bicicleta Viogner. I have to admit that I’m not much of a white wine drinker. It’s not that I don’t like white wine (because I most definitely do) it’s more so that I usually reach for a rosΓ© or a red instead. But you just can’t beat a glass of white wine alongside a light meal can you? And if there’s one white wine that I’ll reach for when it comes to pairing with food it’s Cono Sur’s Bicicleta Viogner. What makes this such a great wine for me is that it lacks in acidity. White wine can often be way too acidic for me but Cono Sur’s Viogner is full of flavour without being acidic.

Dark Horse Merlot (Wine Lover)

Last but not least I’ve picked out a stunning merlot for the mums who are partial to a glass of red. I’ve gone with the full-bodied, fruity Dark Horse Merlot (which I reviewed for ‘Wine Wednesday’ here). With this merlot Dark Horse have created such a unique wine that any wine lover would enjoy trying. It’s dark, spicy and just absolutely delicious.

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines (Wine Lover)

If you’re looking to go all out and treat your mum to more of an ‘experience’ this Mother’s Day then how about booking her a place on the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. The WSET (The Wine & Spirit Education Trust) is an established awarding body that offers the opportunity for you to gain qualifications and take courses in wines and spirits. Since its establishment in 1969, WSET has become the global industry leader in wine and spirit qualifications and they offer awards in wine and spirits at all levels.

If your mum is passionate about her wine and would be interested in getting the chance to develop her knowledge and gain a qualification in wine then the WSET Level 1 Award would be such a great place to start. The Level 1 Award focuses on teaching the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste. The course also gives its students the skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings. A pretty interesting gift for a wine-lover isn’t it? I’m actually hoping to take this course myself as it sounds so interesting. It’s definitely worth looking into if you know that your mum is interested in learning a bit more about wine!

Wine Voucher or Gift Card (Wine Lover)

If you’re not quite sure what wine to choose for your mum then why not consider giving a gift card instead? I know that a lot of people often might think that gift cards are a bit impersonal but I think it’s all down to what the gift card is. If you put thought into the gift card then I 100% think it could be a great gift idea or a little extra to throw in with other gifts this Mother’s Day. It’s more important than ever to support small businesses if you’re able to, so why not treat your mum to a gift card from a local independent wine store?

Here in Liverpool we’ve got some really great options when it comes to independent wine sellers including R&H Fine Wines, Ropes & Twines, and Belzan. R&H Fine Wines and Ropes & Twines offer gift cards starting at Β£10, and Belzan’s gift cards start at Β£25. London-based Lady of the Grapes (who I reviewed as part of ‘Wine Wednesday’ here) are another great option, and they offer gift cards starting at Β£25. Of course there are plenty of great independents across the whole of the UK so I’d definitely recommend checking out what your local independent wine stores are offering in terms of gift cards.

Have you decided what you’re going to get for your mum this Mother’s Day? Are there any foodie Mother’s Day gifts in my guide that you think would be right up your mum’s street? Let me know in the comments.
