Well hello to you 2019. After starting off the New Year with a lie in and a Wintry walk it’s time to get back to normality and on the blogging grind. What better way is there to start a year than setting out to achieve some goals, am I right? For this years goals my focus is all around my blog and the final part of my degree. So, as a whole, I’m expecting 2019 to be full of changes. I’ve set myself 5 New Year Goals for 2019 and I thought I’d take the opportunity to share them on here to a) try and make me accountable for them and b) help inspire you in terms of the goals that you’re setting for this year.

New Year Goals #1: Graduate in the Summer
With graduation coming up in the Summer it’s more important now than ever for me to be working hard to achieve my academic goals. So, for the first part of my year my aim is to work as hard as I can to gain my full degree. After a total of 18 years in education it’ll be strange to finish my degree and get on with ‘adulting’. However, I’m excited to see what life post-university will bring.
#2: Go To A Blogging Event
After blogging for almost 18 months it’s weird to think that I haven’t actually met any other bloggers before. There are so many people that I’ve come across through blogging on social media but have never met in person. In 2019 I’d love to have the opportunity to meet up with other bloggers. Whether that be a simple coffee in a city nearby or a full-on press event for bloggers, hopefully 2019 is the year!
#3: Gain More Work Experience
2018 an exciting year for work experience with me having worked at London Fashion Week in September. It was my work at LFW and my fashion writing internship that made me wonder whether a career in fashion could be an option for me. As a Fine Art student, a job in the fashion industry isn’t exactly a direct link to my degree. However, I found that there are so many transferable skills from my degree that work in the fashion industry. That and, of course, the fact that I’ve been running my own blog for over a year. It’s incredible how many different skills I’ve gained through blogging that can be applied to future jobs. Hopefully in 2019 I can find even more opportunities to gain experience and maybe even a graduate job at the end of it all.

#4: Maintain or Improve my Blog Stats
Although I don’t want to focus too many of my goals on blog statistics, I realise that they are an important part of growing as a blogger. The main thing to remember, however, is that blogging just be fun. Stats and growth mean absolutely nothing if you aren’t enjoying what you’re doing. So, with this in mind, I’ve set a few statistic-based goals for 2019.
- 5K on Twitter: Twitter is my favourite social media site for sure when it comes to being a blogger. I feel like I understand Twitter (whether or not that is actually true we shall see!). I’m starting the year at 4.3K followers so I’m hoping that 700 new followers in 2019 isn’t too ridiculous of a goal!
- 10K monthly views on Pinterest: For some, this might seem like the smallest goal ever but to me it’s a lot! I know I’m definitely not alone in finding Pinterest to be the most difficult social network to navigate through. I’ve got a lot of learning and experimenting to do to reach this one but I’m excited to give it my best shot.
- 700 on Instagram: To be completely honest, I think this is the most unrealistic goal out of them all! Even though I’d only need just over 100 more followers to get there, I just find Instagram really difficult to use for my blog. I think it’s because I choose not to feature myself on my Instagram account so maybe I’m not as relatable to other accounts that do post images of the face behind the blog.
New Year Goals #5: Learn More About Arts & Culture
My favourite goals to set are those that help enrich my mind. This year I’m hoping to develop a lot more of a knowledge of the arts, and more specifically music. My practice as an artist is in music and sound art and so I love learning more about music whenever I can. This year I’m hoping to discover a lot more about jazz and jazz music. I’ve always had an interest in it but never full delved into the genre, so 2019 is officially the year Faye learns all about jazz!
There you have it. My 5 goals for 2019. Are you setting any goals for 2019? Let me know in the comments what they are if you are setting yourself some. Happy New Year to you all! Here’s to achieving our goals in 2019.

A well rounded selection of goals included here, particularly loving the last one about culture, I haven’t seen that anywhere else! I’d say your blogging goals are entirely reasonable, which is awesome that you’re not overwhelming yourself. Look forward to seeing you smash your goals! <3
