I did it! I graduated from university last week and I have to admit I’m pretty proud of myself. For anyone who didn’t know, I’ve been at university for the last three years studying for my BA in Fine Art. And last week I finally graduated! It was so lovely returning to my university for a few days of celebrating and relaxing. I feel like every single time I’ve travelled down to university in the past with my family it was always super stressful, as I’d either be moving in or out of my accommodation. So it was amazing to just visit for fun.
When it came to the ceremony I was so lucky for a few different reasons. The first being the weather. The original weather forecast for the day was rain throughout. But when it came to the actual day there was only a light drizzle early in the morning before glorious weather for the rest of the day. I had a 12pm ceremony (the perfect time!) which meant I had time to get ready in the morning and would be done by lunchtime. The 12pm start didn’t stop me from having to power walk to the campus out of fear of being late though. Of course I was overthinking everything and actually had plenty of time once I got there!
I arrived on campus and picked up my guest tickets while my parents finished getting ready and then headed over to get my robes. After getting my gown and mortarboard (which, shockingly I didn’t look as horrific as anticipated in) I met up with my parents to give them their tickets and take a few quick pictures.
Luckily, the actual ceremony didn’t drag out anywhere near as long as I thought it would. In fact, it only last about 45 minutes altogether. I don’t think I’d ever been so stressed to walk up 4 steps as I was when my name was called out. Thankfully there weren’t any trip ups or falls and I made it through without embarrassing myself (hurray!).
Once the ceremony finished I headed outside to, you guessed it, have a little graduation photoshoot. It had to be done! Shortly followed by a glass of white wine and a sit down with the family as we all basked in the glorious sun.
Altogether it was a pretty amazing day. One that I’ll definitely remember forever. I graduated and I’ve got the pictures to prove it haha!
