For my final day of Blogmas (I can’t believe I actually managed to post 12 days in a row!) I’m doing the Ultimate Christmas Tag. I was tagged by the lovely Macey from Twinkle Thoughts to take part in this so thank you to her. I thought that this would be the perfect post to end on since it’s a bit of a summary of my thoughts on all things Christmassy. Given that it’s Christmas tomorrow, why not end with this?
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I’d say it’s probably the fact that I get to spend some time at home with my family. I’m away at university most of the year but at Christmas I get a full month off. This year is the first year that I haven’t got any deadlines in January so I’m free to relax, have family time and do plenty of eating and drinking.
Do you have any traditions that you cannot forget about each year?
Not really, my usual routine is very relaxed. We have family over in the early afternoon and then Christmas dinner in the evening. Pretty simple really!
Is there a song that just gets you in the Christmas mood?
Driving Home For Christmas! Over the last three years it’s become my go-to song to drive home to when I’m coming home from university for Christmas. As soon as it comes on I’m instantly put into the festive spirit.
What are your top 5 favourite Christmas films?
- The Polar Express
- The Holiday
- Love Actually
What food is your Christmas must-have?
I have so many Christmas food favourites. Pigs in blankets are a firm favourite of mine for sure but roast potatoes and stuffing as well. I never have Sunday roast dinners throughout the year so Christmas dinner is pretty much the only roast I’ll have!
If you had to choose between Michael Bublé’s Christmas album or Justin Bieber’s, who would you choose?
Michael Bublé for sure! Nothing will ever beat Holly Jolly Christmas.
What is your favourite Christmas memory?
This is a difficult one! I don’t have a standout memory but I remember loving the Christmas that I got my piano. I’d been wanting to play and had just started taking lessons that year so when I finally got a piano of my own I was so excited. I think that must have been about 8 or 9 years ago.
When do you start decorating your house for Christmas?
As soon as I’m home from university, so about mid-December. I’m not someone who starts decorating early as my family have never been that way.
If you were doing karaoke, which 5 Christmas songs would you choose to sing?
- Driving Home For Christmas (mostly so I could put on Chris Rea’s voice).
- Last Christmas by Wham!
- Stay Another Day by East 17. I just think this would be so fake-dramatic to sing with your friends on karaoke.
- Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee
- Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney
How old were you when you started asking questions about Father Christmas?
I’m sorry are you trying to suggest that he ISN’T real?! In all seriousness I think I found out the truth about Father Christmas when I was about 8. As far as I can remember I didn’t really ask any questions about him though!
What do you think makes Christmas so magical?
I think the festive decorations and lights that are put up in the city centre are what starts off the magic of Christmas. Everything is just a little bit special when it’s covered in Christmas lights.
Share you favourite photograph from a previous Christmas.
I haven’t got many photos on my phone because I recently changed it so the best offering I have is an image of some of my Christmas dinner from 3 years ago.
So, that’s the end of Blogmas! Thank you to everyone for reading and following along with me over the last 12 days. Hopefully I’ve managed to put you in the festive mood ready for tomorrow. I’m guessing I won’t be as active on social media etc. over the next few days so Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a lovely few days of relaxation and celebration.
