Can you believe it’s December tomorrow? I’m so ready to hand in my work and start feeling festive. I think all of my deadlines have got me so excited to get in the Christmas mood. After all of the stress of university work I just want to drop everything and watch all of my favourite Christmas films. November has been another great but stressful month for me but I’ve come out of it feeling positive for the final month of 2018 and whatever it might bring!
Well, it simply has to be I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here doesn’t it? I’ve watched I’m A Celeb for the last I-don’t-know-how many years without fail. For some reason it always manages to make me feel festive whenever it comes back every year. As soon as I’m a Celeb comes on the TV you know it’s almost Christmastime. I’m not sure how I feel about this years group of celebrities but I guess it’s still early doors. If you’ve been following along then comment below who you’re loving this year.
Track: Bear Claws, The Academic
I feel like this is one of those songs that would be great on a driving or road trip playlist. I’ve always loved my indie rock music so when I came across Bear Claws at the beginning of the month I instantly added it to my everyday playlist. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and listen to their whole album but if it’s anything like this song then I can see myself being a fan of theirs for sure.
Album: Good Thing, Leon Bridges
This album has been such a relaxing one for me to listen to when work has started to stress me out a little too much. I remember hearing a Leon Bridges song a little while back but then completely forgetting all about it. It wasn’t until he popped up in the suggestions on Spotify that I realised the song that I’d heard was by him (Bad Bad News). My favourite track from the album, however, is definitely Beyond. I’ve been listening to it on repeat for the entire month.
This months blogger is the lovely Abby from Abby Clare Blog. Not only is Abby such an amazing, supportive person within the blogging community but I thought she deserved a little shout out because she’s just moved back to the UK after living in Australia for almost five years. I’m so excited to read all about what she gets up to now that she’s back in the UK! If you haven’t visited her blog already then definitely head over and have a little browse.
For about a week in the middle of the month I found myself struggling to get to sleep (blame it on university stress!) and, as you do, I decided to have a look into ways I could finally get a decent nights sleep. I found a few different ideas of ways to help myself get some sleep but in the last day or so I stumbled across a post by Carpe Diem Emmie that I thought was worth sharing. Surely I’m not the only person struggling to sleep at the moment so maybe her post might help anyone who’s suffering with lack of sleep.
At the beginning of the month I suddenly had a desire to make myself mac and cheese. Having never made macaroni cheese before I thought why not give it a go, how hard could it be? Well, the answer is not very hard at all! (Un)fortunately this meant that I ended up treating myself to it more than a few times throughout the month. What can I say, its my new weakness!
This month has been all about ankle boots for me. At the beginning of the month I decided to splash out and buy myself a new pair of ankle boots to replace an old, worn-out pair that I’d had for a fair few years. In the last year or so I’ve become a huge fan of the pointed ankle boot rather than a round toed boot. That’s not to say that I’m not a fan of a round toe (I have plenty of rounded boots!) but I just like having a few different options when it comes to my boots. My latest purchase were a pair of low heel, pointed toe burgundy ankle boots. As much as I love a classic black shoe, I find that a burgundy boot is just as versatile as a black pair. Plus they add a bit of a colour to a simplistic outfit. I’m planning on rocking my latest pair throughout Autumn/Winter and styling them up next week on holiday!
Pretty much any moment when I wasn’t sat in my room working on my dissertation was a November highlight for me. Who else can relate to the dissertation deadline stress?! In all seriousness though…I’ve had a pretty boring month. Here’s to hoping that December will bring a little bit more excitement and a lot less work!
