How is it November already?! It feels like I was only just writing my September favourites a few days ago. With a new month upon us, that can only mean one thing: another monthly favourites post! So, let’s get straight into it.
Season three of The Good Place is here!! Let me just start by saying if you haven’t seen The Good Place you are seriously missing out. The series follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) as she enters The Good Place (a sort-of afterlife). The slight problem, however, is that she doesn’t actually belong there…
This month’s film of choice is the Academy Award winning Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. When the list of Oscar nominees came out for 2018, I’d never heard of Three Billboards and, after watching it so recently, I wondered how I could have never heard of it! After the murder of her daughter, Mildred (Frances McDormand) takes matters into her own hands to try and solve the crime.
Track: Small Talk, Courtney Barnett
Courtney Barnett has been one of my favourite musicians for a fair few years now and, after seeing her at All Points East festival in June, my love for her music only grew further. Small Talk has featured on my walking-to-university playlist over the last month and was definitely the stand-out track to my October.
Album: I Don’t Run, Hinds
Again, I’ve been following Hinds and their amazing music for a little while and I was overjoyed to hear that they’d realised this album. The first song that I heard from them was Bamboo back in 2016, and since then I’ve been a huge fan of theirs. Some of my favourites from the album are The Club, New For You and Tester.
My fellow Dr Marten’s loving blogger Bexa from HelloBexa is my blogger favourite for October! Not only is her blog one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen but she’s such an amazing presence on Twitter. I love having her light up my feed with her positivity and her weekly comment swaps.
Something that I absolutely love about running a blogger RT account on Twitter is that I discover so many amazing, new bloggers and posts. This months blog post comes from the lovely Amabel of Belspixie. It wasn’t until creating my RT account that I came across her blog and I’m so glad that I did. Her post entitled How I Get Motivated and Productive was one that stood out to me this month (even if it was actually posted in September!). As we head into a new month, it’s always useful to think about ways that you can improve productivity and increase motivation. I think as it starts to get colder and darker in the Winter time, it can be difficult to always stay motivated. So I thought i’d share her post in the hopes of keeping everyone motivated this Winter.
I’m not entirely sure why, but over the last month I’ve been completely obsessed with macaroni (a bit of a weird obsession… I know!). Anyway, after making a macaroni cheese or two…or three, I started thinking about alternative macaroni recipes that I could make. After searching online for some new recipes, I came across a Vegetable and Macaroni Soup recipe from Taste. There’s just nothing better than a bowl of warming soup on a cold November evening, and if you’re looking for some soup-spiration, this is definitely the recipe for you.
If you’ve read my blog post about enhancing your wardrobe with accessories, then you might know that my all-time favourite fashion piece is by far the poloneck. With the sudden drop in temperature I was thrilled to discover that it’s officially poloneck season. One of my favourite ways to style them is with a pair of jeans and heeled boots. Simple, classic and chic.
October was a very university-heavy month for me so it wasn’t difficult to pick out a standout moment (because there was pretty much only one!). Mid-way through the month it was my housemates 21st birthday and so we got together to celebrate the day. It was lovely to take a break from the stress of third-year university life and just relax with good company for a bit.
