We’re halfway through the year and Female Original is officially a year old! It’s absolutely flown by but it’s been an amazing year of writing and connecting with great people. With a new milestone reached, it only felt right to try something new out with my blog to celebrate. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a little while now and thought what better time to start than now. Monthly favourites are some of my favourite posts to read so I’m hoping to make them a part of Female Original starting now with my June favourites. In addition to the usual topics for monthly favourites, I thought I’d add a couple of my own ideas into the mix to try something new.
I can’t lie to you guys, this month’s favourite has definitely been Love Island. This year was the first that I’d tuned in to watch it after dismissing it in the past, thinking it’d be a load of absolute rubbish. I’m so glad I decided to give it a go because I’m actually obsessed with the whole thing. I also love the fact that it’s such a huge show in the UK so there’s so many people to talk to about it!
The Greatest Showman. WOW. I was completely in awe of this film. I knew I was going to love it but honestly it was so beautiful. Embarrassingly I was very late to the party when it came to this film but I’m so glad I finally got around to actually watching it.
Track: Talk Fast, 5 Seconds of Summer
I’m just going to start by saying that this track is an absolute BOP. The whole album is worth a listen but Talk Fast has been one of my favourite from the album for sure.
Album: Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Arctic Monkeys
You’ll know from reading my A Journey Through My Music Taste post that I’ve been a fan of Arctic Monkeys for years. When I heard that they’d be bringing out a new album I was ridiculously excited. TBHAC definitely did not disappoint. Along with 5 Second of Summer’s Youngblood, I’ve had this album on repeat all month. However, it took the edge over 5SOS for me. A few of my favourite tracks from the album were Four Out Of Five, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino and American Sports. Go give it a listen – it’s an absolute beauty of an album.
I wanted to include a shout-out to a blogger in each of my monthly favourites and take time to acknowledge other bloggers out there! This month I want to share HALE blog with you all. There’s a bit of everything on their blog so you’ll definitely be able to find something that you can relate to in no time!
A great piece that I’ve read this month came from Robyn Poppy. Being Selective with Brand Collaborations was such an interesting read and is definitely something that all bloggers should take time to read through as well! It’s easy to get sucked into the idea of a brand collaboration and so being selective is a really important thing to do.
Given the recent hot weather in the UK, I’ve really been into making salads. So, it would make sense for my favourite recipe for June to be my Mackerel Salad. Not only is it great for the hot weather but it’s also been a regular in my diet while I’ve been watching what I’ve been eating over the last few weeks. Definitely a must-try for anyone looking to cut down a bit for the Summer!
Basket Bags: I’m obsessed. I bought myself a basket bag whilst I was in Lisbon last summer and it’s only this year that they seem to be everywhere. Not going to lie, I feel pretty smug being onto the trend a year before it happened.
Other than obviously celebrating one year of my blog, I’ve had some really fun times this month. My favourite would have to be going to All Points East festival in Victoria Park. Any chance that I get to visit London I always get so hyped up to go. I’d never been to a festival before and, although this was only a day festival, it felt just like what I imagined a real festival would be like.
Thanks for reading! Let me know your thoughts on this new style of post and comment below what your favourite moment from this month has been. I’d love to read through them all.
